In 1982 he graduated from Shanxi Agricultural University. In the same year, he studied for a master's degree in Shanxi Agricultural University. He is a professor at University of California, Los Angeles. Also, he is Director of the Center for Shared Genomes at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and Director of the Center for Functional Genomics and Big Data. And he is a distinguished professor, doctoral supervisor of Shanxi Agricultural University.
