He studied at Private Ming Hsien School in 1924 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1927. He successively served as Deputy Secretary of the Chengdu Municipal Party Committee, Chinese ambassador to the Hungary, North Korea, Norway, Netherlands, Iran, Member of the Standing Committee of the 5th and 6th National People's Congress.
