College of Animal Science

The College of Animal Science of Shanxi Agricultural University (SXAU) is a one-hundred-year college whose history can be traced back to the agricultural and animal husbandry group established by Mingxian College in 1922.

In June 2020, a new College of Animal Science was established through the integration and reorganization of Animal Husbandry Discipline of the former College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine of SXAU, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Institute, as well as the Feed team of Feed and Veterinary Medicine Institute of the former Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Currently, the College of Animal Science consists of the Department of Animal Genetics, Breeding, and Reproduction Science, the Department of Animal Nutrition, the Department of Animal Production, and the Department of Economic Zoology. The college has one provincial key laboratory, five provincial technology innovation teams, and eight national and provincial scientific and technological innovation platforms.

The College of Animal Science has built a multidisciplinary coordinated development system, formed a complete talent training system for bachelors, masters and doctors, and set up post-doctoral workstations.

At the College of Animal Science, we apply principles of learning, discovery, and engagement to benefit students, consumers, and clientele associated with animal agriculture. Our students are trained to succeed after graduation, largely thanks to our scholarly, diverse, and highly sought-after faculty.
